NTS Gets New Name

The Department of Networks, Telecommunications and Systems has a new name. The department is now known as Digital Infrastructure. This group has always been responsible for our campus data network, our connection to external networks like the internet and internet2, our servers and related infrastructure, the campus telephone system and its network, and the campus cable TV distribution system. Last summer the group assumed a number of important new responsibilities. These included the installation and maintenance of projectors, smartboards, projection screens, speakers, DVD players and similar devices in classrooms and presentation spaces. They also included providing media support for College events. The new name more accurately reflects the group’s broader responsibilities—and has the considerable advantage of being much shorter.
